Hyundai’s new electric car and battery factory near Savannah, Georgia, will be one of the region’s largest employers as it turns out 300,000 vehicles annually, including Kias, the company’s namesake brand and its Genesis electric car line. About the project: The 12 million-square-foot plant is theautomaker’s first mass-production electric vehicle plant in the United States. A second phase, totaling an additional 5 million square feet, is expected to be completed during the second quarter of this year.What the judges said: "This facility's impact will be rippled,providing thousands of direct and indirect jobs, driving in-migration,impacting the higher education system, generating demand for retail and housing, and drawing suppliers to the area,” said Christa DiLalo, senior research director at Cushman & Wakefield.

California’s Black Lion Buys North Jersey Shopping Center for Nearly $50 Million

Los Angeles-based Black Lion Investment Group, which has beenbuying up retail properties, has acquired a North Jersey shoppingcenter for $49.75 million and plans to update it, according to thebroker on the deal.The California real estate firm has purchased ITC Crossing South,which has 373,612 square feet, at 10-50 International Drive S inMount Olive. The 46.7-acre center — which includes Lowe’s, T.J. Maxx,Michaels and Bed Bath & Beyond and is shadow-anchored by Walmart— will undergo a face-lift and various upgrades by the new owner.The sale closed in December as part of Black Lion’s plan to acquireretail power centers throughout the United States last year, OldBridge, New Jersey-based brokerage R.J. Brunelli & Co. said Tuesdayin a statement. Black Lion did more than $250 million in deals in2021, including nearly $100 million in shopping center acquisitionswith the purchase of Oracle Wetmore Shopping Center in Tucson,Arizona, for $38 million
